They take care of the Data Centre, which is the main part of the banks in which the data and core banking applications are saved. The IT officers are responsible for maintaining and supporting this data centre, so that it remains functional 24x7, without any malfunction in it.

They also need to look after the banking software that is installed in the banks in which the officers and clerical cadres are working on a day to day basis. They need to troubleshoot any communication or software issues that arise in these computers while working.

The ATM section of the banks is also handled by the IT officers. They are responsible for smooth functioning of the ATM machines and need to repair any disputes in the machine with immediate effect. They often need to visit the ATMs in shifts and are given responsibility to install them in the new places.

They are also required to go report at the project office, where all the banking branch support of IT takes place. They look after the security and surveillance of the bank and its mechanisms as well.

They make sure that the computers are protected with right anti-virus and the surveillance cameras and the set-up is working properly in the banks. Along with different types of banking software like Finacle, FLEXCUBE, BanCS, SAP etc, they need to work upon the hardware parts in the banks as well.

Setting of accounts, making employees know about the modifications in the application software, testing and evaluating new technology used by banks, safety and security checks and assisting fellow workers are some of the roles of the IT Officer in any bank.

 

They are posted in REGIONAL OFFICES,DIT,CBS CELLS,SERVICE BRANCH,DATA CENTRE,DR SITE.

CBS is the only place where some scripting or coding is done rest in all places u just need to coordinate with the vendors n make sure that the n/w remains UP.

it is the hub of all bank servers.there is no such technical job as an IT officer.everything is outsourced in banks.u just need to monitor then.

The worst place to work in are regional offices.
around 60-70 on an average branches comes under one regional office,so in case of any technical issue they give a call to IT officer n trust me these banks managers will eat up ur mind n dy r irritating too.opening of a new branch under an RO is also a responsibility of an IT officer i.e. monitors.scanners,routers,modems etc are to be installed by him with the help of vendors.

OBC cbs cell is Presently in Connaught Place but it is being shifted to sahadra.

 

Does this mean persons at Data Centre have different shifts?
