I got placed in one of the PSU bank as specialist officer marketing.. is it true that after reaching scale-2 or 3 we get general banking automatically...... Or we have to pass JAIIB CAIIB to get into general banking..??

 

you will be given an option to remain as specialist or move to generalist.

 

Automatically u will transfer to general banking after reaching scale 4

 

Depends on bank to bank but after 5 yrs you will be given option to switch

 

Sir I want to get into general banking as soon as possible....Will passing JAIIB ; CAIIB help me faster or sooner to get into it

 

Jaiib ; CAIIB is not compulsory any more ... U can countinue as marketing specialist ... It's up to u to switch to general banking

 

In our Bank - after five years of service as specialist, you can opt for main stream - in the meanwhile, you can write internal exams to go for your promotion in your special stream - regarding JAIIB ; CAIIB - if you clear these certified coursed being conducted by Indian Institute of Bankers - you get extra monetary benefits plus he knowledge, whatever you are able to gain.

 

In central bank of India the specialist officer become eligible for mainstream promotion exam after 3 years of service.

 

Depends on bank policy...but usually after sc3 ..u get into g banking..without jaiib or caiib

 

For getting Promotion u hav to write exams along with pos or general officers..as usual..

 

This was a very genuine question and I wanted to know about the same thing. But nobody was able to give a proper answer. I was selected as a SO in Canara. But luckily I got through PO too. Will join as a PO.

In many banks after completing 5 Yrs of service as specialist officer Bank may offer conversion based on its needs, this is as per circular of a PSB

 

In syndicate bank in scale 2 also SO are shifted to general banking
