    outstation cheque is simply a cheque drawn on an account which is maintained in a branch not in your "centre"..typically there is no hard and fast definition about centre in this context but in practice it includes all the branches of the banks that take part in the clearing process in that district..

    RBI defines it as a cheque drawn on non-local bank branch. Suppose you receive a cheque drawn on SBI Boring Canal Branch and you deposit it to your account at greater noida, it would come under outstation cheque.
