PreparationStrategy For Paper III– Finance and Management RBIGradeB Phase2 2017 Conceived by many as the worst nightmare ever, this is the most challenging paper of Phase 2. The technicality and in-depth numerical based questions are what constitute its difficulty level. Step One: Always read the syllabus first. Google each topic personally, and you will find numerous start to endnotes on each heading. Now, the Finance section can be broadly classified under three heads: A. Financial System: - Read about Regulators of Bank and Financial systems - Reserve Bank of India - Financial Institutions such as EXIM, NABARD, SIDBI, RRB’S, NHB etc. - The Best online source: Refer the “About” and “FAQ” section of institutes’ official website. - Many times the “speeches”, “circulars” and “news/media” section also provides valuable insight on topics, especially on the RBI website. - While you individually study each topic, check the news tab on Google. It will cover the entire current affairs section simultaneously. Posts from Business Standard, Economic Times, The Hindu, Hindu Business Line, etc are reliable sources to read from. B. Financial Markets: - Read About Primary and Secondary Markets (Forex, Money, Bond, Equity, etc.) - Their functions, instruments etc - Recent developments pertaining to each. - Our toppers have found Sriram’s Economy Notes quite relevant. NCFM’s course materials (by Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE), Book By Shanker Ganesh, Investopedia, updated PDF from websites like www.mrunal.org , VISION IAS shall help. C. General Topics - In line with the syllabus, use the same above strategies to prepare this section. You will find a majority part will seem to overlap or reconnect with the economics paper. Revisiting the notes will strengthen both your sections here. Once the theory part is over, roll your sleeves for the numerical part. They take your time and effort but will provide you solid full marks for each right answer. Numerical are based on a topic like Bond Pricing, Cash Flow Statement, Profit/Loss statement, YTM, Accounting ratios etc. - Graduation books will come to your rescue here. Among which, Financial Management by Prasanna Chandra is the most recommended book. Followed by Corporate Finance By Ross Westerfield Jaffe. Basics from Accounting books of NCERT (XI & XII) Coming to the Management Section: - If you did not have the opportunity to read “management” as part of your academics, refer books of Principles of Management, Organizational Behaviour by S.P. Robbins. - IGNOU Management notes - Capsules by competitive exams websites - Online notes on specific topics like Leadership, Human Resource Development, Motivation, Communication etc. Last but not the least, what may seem the redundant advice, but is the most crucial is time yourself. Both in the preparation phase and while actually giving the examination. This exam demands a lot of knowledge but every effort will be wasted if you are unable to deliver in a time-frame. Maintain the speed, keep the accuracy high, keep your enthusiasm higher- Trust yourself, trust your hard-work and you are good to go! B|
