Specialist officer vs Probationary Officer So vs PO ibps

To clear the air for some of you who are selected in both PO & SO. I have talked to both SO & PO in same bank. Salary is same, rank is same, perks are same & contrary to popular belief promotion opportunities are also same. Only thing different is their work profile & customer interaction. You want to work in core banking & for personal growth go for PO (anyways after years there is nothing else to go but core banking). You love technology & reluctant to customer interaction go for SO. Also you will have less work load than PO but it's actually very less, sometimes it's even more than PO (hard times). So go with your gut feeling. I hope this puts to rest all the queries regarding comparison of SO & PO. Go anywhere, Be anywhere, just remember to leave your mark there...

No it's not...promotion policy is same..the SO guy told me that new promotion policy letter came from adminstration deptt & same document was sent to both SO & PO.. No difference..Only name of posts are different.. He told me don't know why people are spreading rumours bcoz the policy has always been same. So please stop spreading myth & confirm once with the people who actually formulate policies like HR.

Besides the promotion policies, moreover you have to see whether you are ready to work in rural areas . As in the case of PO , you have to work in the rural areas while the SO' s are generally posted in regional offices ie in the metro city. So choose wisely depending on your priorities...
