there isn't a doubt about your selection now.. I spoke to people and also as sparrowjack said.. Medical isn't so much to worry about.. So you are in for sure.. In my company notice is for 45 days but I can negotiate on basis on salary.. So I wud manage that way..

 

I have a non negotiable 3 months Notice period. Waiting for the Appointment letter to file for separation. Hope I get the Extension. Don't want to take chances.

 

will they ask for preferences in location? Can anyone list down all the cities in which posting is given. I am from MP and if I get a posting within MP it will be best for me. Or even if at later point of time get posting after transfer in MP will also be fine. .

 

no preference will be asked. if you're posted in some other state, only after some 3-4 yrs, you can request for transfer to your home state.

: in MP, IT officers will be posted in Local Head Office (LHO) Bhopal or zonal offices. ya.. after 4 yrs, most officers will get transfer when requested.

: i remember replying to that post earlier.however, i've not been able to find a pattern on how they decide the location. also place of interview and place of posting doesn't seem to have a direct correlation.

 

Does SBI provide tie-ups with institutes if one wants to do an MBA ?? Would there be enough time to prepare for CAT after joining as AMSY ??

 

Hi all, plz tell me is it true that as IT officer there are not many opportunities and an IT officer has to join mainstream banking for promotions and career growth?

 

There's some truth in the fact that career growth/promotions for IT officers is not that good when compared with mainstream/general bankers.My personal opinion is that this might be due to1. Limited no. of posts for IT Officers.2. IT Officers constitute a very minor part of the workforce of the bank and hence promotion opportunities/vacancies reduce higher up the hierarchy.However, fact is that, the promotion/career opportunities for IT officers are nowadays getting somewhat better (though not as good as that is for gen. stream bankers).

 

however, one cannot easily convert/join to mainstream banker and vice-versa.. the process for doing so is very difficult, demanding clearances from various higher authorities.decades back, conversion from generalist to specialist and vice-versa was allowed and was a bit easier.. close to impossible nowadays.

Monetarily, I think the pay given is adequate to lead a decent life, since the cost of accommodation which constitutes a major chunk in our earnings is borne by the bank.Also the pretty cheap housing/car/other loans offered to staff is something that not many know. (Puts one in awe when he/she tries to calculate the benefits in them).
Initially I had my own reservations on IT systems/procedures in govt/psu, that they wouldn't be much exciting/interesting..

But today, I can comfortably say SBG is really a forerunner in adapting to technologies more swiftly, when compared to most other govt owned organisations/PSU banks (let alone pvt banks - scenario is entirely different there).

I get this confidence day in and day out when I see some applications getting virtualized, some data getting moved to our private cloud, servers getting consolidated etc.,

Even 2 Hackathons for staff with very attractive prizes have been conducted in the past 2 years. I see all these as a very good sign.

All these apart, more satisfying is the feeling when you get to work on a service that pays out LPG/DBT subsidies to millions of people, technologies that help in achieving financial inclusion, developing a mobile app that's used by a million users etc.,

I've seen many of my batchmates from IITs(B/R/et al), BITS, NITs etc., who've left/not opted for greener pastures and instead enjoy working here. And so, I too enjoy working here.

 

Are weekends off in SBI for SOs ?

I also heard that SBI offers subsidized loans (like car / house), higher rate on savings deposit to its employees. Are these all available on Day - 1 or after the completion of probation ?

 

1% higher interest rate is given for deposits right from day1.car loan will be eligible after 2 years, housing loan after 5 years.. (both including period of probation).car loan - max 7 lakhs - 7% Simple Interest / repayment period - 180 monthshousing loan - max 60 lakhs - 6.75% - 8% - Simple Interest / repayment period - 360 months / 75 years of age

 

: for two wheelers.. after confirmation - 90% of cost of vehiclebefore confirmation : 90% of cost of vehicle with max cap of Rs. 60KBoth are with Simple interest of 7% p.arepayment period - 84 months

 

For leased house option from SBI, do they allow an employee to take fully furnished leased accommodation if it is within permissible leased amount (30K / mo) ?

What is the process of payment of the rent, Is it directly paid in land lords account or should we present the rent voucher for reimbursement

 

As soon as you join, you will be eligible for furniture allowance of Rs.1,20,000.50% of the amount shall be used for purchase of electrical/electronic items and remaining 50% for non-electronic items.electronic/electric items can be bought again after a period of 5 yrs and non-electronic after a period of 10 years. Some items like curtains, mattresses, inverter battery can be bought again after a period of 3 yrs.Furniture mtce charges of Rs.11000 can be claimed once in a year.

 

is it okay to buy online with this money and submit electronic invoice? (without quotation before buying)

 

sir, this means we have to submit invoices of items and on the basis on that they would disburse the furniture allowance ? Or is it on quotation ?

 

How is the work pressure in this job .I have seen many new Po are really feel frustrated after joining .means how is the work environment?.

 

work pressure will be moderate as i already mentioned in one of my previous posts.compared to PO's stress will be very less or nil, since PO's are frequently bothered with monthly targets, budgets, campaigns etc.,

 

Will they provide transportation cost for shifting my household items from current location to SBI posting location?

 

during transfers between different centres, transportation/shifting cost is provided. but not at the time of joining.
